Richard Butler
Chief Operating Officer
Richard Butler is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Matter Real Estate, where he is responsible for the firm’s operational strategy and execution across fund structuring, governance, compliance, and transaction management.
With over 25 years of experience, Richard’s expertise spans real estate, private credit, and special situations. He oversees all non-investment functions at Matter, including finance, legal, tax, risk management, and fund administration, working closely with external counsel and advisors to support Matter’s cross-border investment activities. He also sits on the boards of several Luxembourg-based structures.
Prior to joining Matter, Richard was a Partner at ESO Capital Group, where he was responsible for transaction structuring and capital deployment across European markets. He has also held senior roles at Lehman Brothers, Bank of America, and Black Lion Group.
Richard is a Chartered Accountant and holds a BA (Hons) in Law from the University of Nottingham.
